The Mayor of a Turkish city called Batman is to sue director Christopher Nolan and Warner Bros. for using the city's name without permission.
Huseyin Kalkan says, "There is only one Batman in the world. The American producers used the name of our city without informing us."
He goes so far as to blame the latest Nolan film for a spate of murders and suicides in Batman. He also claims the stigma attached to the city makes it almost impossible for local businesses to be taken seriously abroad. (Agencies)

The Church of Christ's Resurrection, in the central Russian village of Komarovo, has been vanished brick by brick.
It was built in 1809 and it stood there for almost 200 years. It was in an isolated area only occasionally visited by clergymen, so the disappearance was not immediately noticed.
"This is not an isolated case," said Father Vitaly, a spokesman for the local Russian Orthodox Church. "In many villages in central Russia sites of historical interest are being dismantled and people suffer by being deprived of their cultural heritage." (Agencies)

She realized the mistake when she changed the baby's nappy. Cristina hadn't suspected a thing because the baby was handed over wearing the clothes she had provided.
"Only when I got home and I invited some friends and the baby's godparents to see her did I notice my girl had a penis. I was paralyzed," she said.
Staff at the Sfanta Maria Hospital in Lasi said the mix-up happened because the babies had similar family names and were in neighbouring cots. (Agencies)

"He appeared to be none the worse for his ordeal other than being understandably somewhat embarrassed," the spokesman said.
The toilet, meanwhile, was returned to the public conveniences. (Agencies)
